Firm support option with comfort of a padded cover for air mattresses

The Simple Stuff Works range includes a variety of accessory options which can be used to provide easy to adjust, tailored support for an individual within this therapeutic positioning system. One option offered is the padded lateral support with integrated mesh, designed specifically for use on top of pressure care mattresses. These can be used in the same way as our regular Lateral Supports, with the added benefit of mesh which is designed to grip the mattress directly.

These padded lateral supports are supplied as a pair and are perfect for providing firmer support in a variety of lying positions around the trunk, pelvis and limbs. They are L-shaped with soft, washable, removable pads which act as a cover and provide added comfort. They can also be used in conjunction with other accessories such as leg supports or pillows to provide additional stability.

When considering lying postural supports for an individual, pressure care needs should always be considered and assessed for by a qualified clinician. In some scenarios, additional positioning support may be required for an individual where they are already using an alternating air pressure mattress or similar device.  It is possible to use the Simple Stuff Works base layers on top of such a mattress if appropriate pressure mapping and planning has been completed. Individual client variables should always be factored into decision making as part of a comprehensive assessment. Where pressure injury risk is significantly high, this should always be prioritised.

The intended purpose of Simple Stuff Works is therapeutic positioning of the body in the lying posture, and is a gentle therapy used for those with movement difficulties. When used correctly it may help protect and restore an individual’s body shape. The system has no Velcro or screw action fixings, so silent changes of position can be made with little disruption to the person whilst in bed.
