Combines the J2’s skin protection capabilities with the J3’s maximum stability

The JAY Fusion is an adjustable multi-layer wheelchair cushion that features JAY Flow Fluid or Air insert options on the surface of the base to provide a high level of pressure protection whilst providing support, stability and comfort.

Fusion features a multi-layer pre-contoured closed cell foam base with a soft foam overlay. This base provides a comfortable yet high level of positioning for users. Soft upper base foam and well fits user comfortably and effectively throughout entire cushion surface.

Fluid Jay Flow bladder or Air Insert is located on top of the foam base. This allows for good pelvic emersion into the cushion – minimising the risk of skin breakdown.

Inner cover with Aquaguard™ moisture resistant zipper assists with incontinence and moisture management.

The outer cover provides good air flow whilst the X-static silver threads help to minimise bacteria buildup (and thus minimise odour). This cover also helps to reduce shear.

The Fusion features a contoured foam based constructed from closed cell foam. Additional positioning is provided by the soft, contoured top layer creating a truly adjustable cushion. Its femoral transition and rear wall help prevent fluid migration while gently supporting the trochanters and posterior pelvis.

Pelvic Loading Area Determined by Common Skeletal Measurements

The width of the Fusion's Pelvic Loading Area is determined by using the average pelvic bone measurements of users of each cushion width. This accommodates the vast majority of individuals, offering forward and lateral stability for proper positioning and optimal immersion and weight distribution to protect the skin from breakdown.

JAY Flow™ Fluid or Air Inserts

JAY Flow™ Fluid or Air Inserts

The Fusion may be ordered with JAY Flow fluid or Air inserts, which conform to each individual's shape, adjust to sitting positions and ensure proper fluid placement beneath bony prominences to help protect the skin from breakdown. The fluid pad's minimum maintenance design delivers superior results for the life of the cushion. The Air levels may be adjusted in the field to accommodate asymmetrical postures and changing needs.

Innovative, Dual-Cover System

For convenience and protection, the Fusion wheelchair pressure cushion features a dual-cover system. The inner cover is water-resistant and easy to wipe off and clean, while its Aqua-guard zipper and anti-wicking thread protect the foam base from fluids. The machine-washable, stretch outer cover reduces surface tension and utilises naturally anti-microbial, silver-impregnated X-static® fibre. A layer of 3DX spacer fabric dissipates heat and moisture for additional skin protection.

Every JAY cushion is guaranteed to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 24 months from the date of purchase, provided normal use.

The removable cover is guaranteed to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of six (6) months from the date of purchase, provided normal use.

Is your child too large for the Carrot 3000?

The Carrot XL car seat accommodates larger users whose measurements fall outside the Carrot 3000 Specifications.

Discomfort Level

This cushion is ideal for users who are uncomfortable, need postural support and are at a high level of pressure risk.  The pre-contoured base encourages a neutral pelvic position and can minimise the user sliding forward into a slouched position. The fluid pad allows for direct emersion into the cushion – dispersing weight across the users’ bottom and thighs. The user will still need to perform weight shifts, but could be dependent on others.

FAQ

Some cushions use fluid packs that are similar to gel. What are these made from?

The JAY fluid packs are made of a vegetable oil-based fluid and are not considered ‘gel’. They form well around a client’s posture and are excellent at promoting skin protection.

The fluid in the JAY cushion has become stiff/hard. Is this normal?

The fluid pads in JAY cushions may become stiff after 4-5 years of consistent use and will require a direct replacement.
