Spex Axial Thigh Supports facilitate optimum thigh alignment and stabilise the sitting posture of the user, ensuring they have the precise support they require. Through its acclaimed Axial hardware mechanism, full support is achieved for external hip rotation and wind-swept postures, as well as preventing tendencies toward pelvic rotation. Its ease of use and infinite range of adjustment make it a great choice for achieving the perfect position for the user, and ensure that the user’s changing needs over time are accommodated.

Like all Spex systems, the Axial Thigh Support has a modular approach, creating flexibility and takes into consideration the individual and unique needs of different clients. Available in either Quick-Release or Swing-Down, the Spex thigh support system ensures that the user has easy access in and out of the chair for transfers.

Spex is designed to mount on almost any chair and seating system, and the thigh support systems are no different! The Axial Thigh Supports are available with either a Seat Base Mount to mount directly to the seat base of the wheelchair, or with a Rail Mount to attach directly to the chair’s seat rail.

Axial Thigh Supports are used to control hip abduction, moderate external hip rotation, and pelvic and trunk rotation by stabilising the pelvis on the seating system. In combination with lateral trunk supports, the thigh support assists in aligning the user's posture, thereby stabilising the upper body and providing functionality for the user.

The comfortable thigh support pad reduces femur and greater trochanter lateral pressure into the wheelchair sideguards. The support pad provides superior comfort for the user through its combination of both its rigid slotted metal backing plate and firmer foam layer, and a pressure-reducing foam overlay. Covered with a premium neoprene removable cover, ensures the user's thighs are always comfortable!
